The delegation of the Donetsk region took part in the Summit of CEI countries (Economic Forum) held 22.11. - 25.11. 2000 in Budapest. This Forum gathered the representatives of Central and Eastern Europe, such countries as Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, the USA, and also EBRD, EU, U.N.O., World Bank.

The delegation from Ukraine was headed by the first Prime-Minister U.Yekhanurov.

The favourable and beneficial atmosphere for investment activity created in the Donetsk region due to the implementation of the Law of Ukraine "About Special Economic Zones and Special Mode of Investment Activity in the Donetsk Region" attracted the attention of the potential investors. In particular, a great interest in establishing business links was shown on the part of the following participants of the Forum: The Minister of Economic Affairs of Italy - Mauro Fabris, the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Roumania - G.Radulesku, the head of the Department of Economy of the Rijeka area (Croatia) - Josip Stankovich, the head of the Institute on export relations (Valencia, Spain) - Enriko-del-Kastilio and others.
