A representative delegation of the famous American firm "Cargill" paid a visit to Donetsk. The delegation consisted of Waren Staley - chairman and major executive director, Greg Page - president of "Cargill", Hubertus Spirings - president of "Cargill Europe", Patrick G.Brecken - president of "Cargill Ukraine", Giyom Bastians - vice president of "Cargill" directorship.

Warren Staley noted that it is a rare thing when the members of the directorship gather in such consist. After visiting Egypt, Turkey, and other countries the delegation arrived in Donetsk to value the work of the plant on sunflower seeds processing in Petrovskey district of Donetsk. This enterprise was put into operation in April last year. It works within the framework of the Law of Ukraine "About Special Economic Zones and Special Mode of Investment Activity in the Donetsk Region". By the start of the 2001 year the enterprise had realized the investments to the sum of 38,4 mln. USD, created 96 new jobs. There have been produced 94 ths. tons of sunflower oil and 90 ths. tons of oilcake since the opening of the plant (April, 2000). The plant capacity allows to process up to one thousand tons of sunflower seeds per day.

At the meeting with the first deputy of chairman of Donetsk Oblast Administration - A.Blizniuk - the "Cargill" representatives stated that in the Donetsk region there have been created all the necessary conditions for effective work of the investors. The company is working out the plans of the further work in the region.

The representatives of "Cargill" underlined that the Donetsk region has skilled personnel. The directorship of the company has an intention to use the Donetsk branch of "Cargill" company as a trained center to prepare specialists from the region for their further employment at its enterprises in other countries.
